Key Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately based on valid prescriptions.
- Verify prescriptions for appropriate dosage, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Counsel patients and caregivers on medication usage, dosage, storage, and possible side effects.
- Maintain proper inventory of medicines and medical consumables.
- Monitor medicine stock levels and initiate timely procurement to prevent shortages.
- Ensure proper storage of medicines, including temperature-sensitive medications.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, stock registers, and dispensing logs.
- Manage narcotic and controlled drugs in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication management.
- Monitor medicine expiry dates and arrange timely disposal of expired or damaged medicines.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and pharmacy audits.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, infection control protocols, and organizational policies.
- Assist in preparing pharmacy-related reports and documentation.
- Support home care medication requirements when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D).
- Valid Kerala State Pharmacy Council Registration (Mandatory).
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacist.
- Experience in a hospital or palliative care setting is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and dispensing practices.
- Knowledge of palliative care medications and pain management is desirable.
- Good inventory and stock management skills.
- Strong communication and patient counseling abilities.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software and Microsoft Office.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
