Junior Embedded Engineer
Location: Bangalore, India (On-site)
Role Type: Internship or Full-time (based on candidate expertise)
About Us
Intellicar Telematics is a leading IoT-based, cloud-optimized solutions provider focused on automotive telematics. We design and deliver custom embedded controllers and software for a wide range of vehicle telematics use cases, with over 45 custom models deployed across our customer base.
The embedded engineering team owns the firmware that powers our IoT controllers — from low-level protocol handling on CAN, UART, SPI, and I2C, to GPRS connectivity, OTA updates, and tight-timing control logic that runs reliably in real-world automotive environments.
Position Overview
We are looking for Junior Embedded Engineers to join the team, with the engagement type tailored to your background. Candidates with strong fundamentals and demonstrated hands-on embedded experience may be considered for a direct Full-time role. Candidates who are early in their journey but show strong dedication and learning appetite will start as a 6-month Internship with a clear path to full-time conversion. In either path, you will be mentored directly by senior team members and exposed to the full embedded development cycle — starting with structured testing work on existing custom models and progressing into development work on customer projects.
What You'll Do
- Test custom embedded models across the existing product portfolio to build deep familiarity with hardware behaviour and firmware flows.
- Pick up basic embedded protocols (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C) and apply them in real customer-deployed devices.
- Write and debug embedded C code for IoT controllers, with emphasis on timing-sensitive logic and bit-level operations.
- Contribute to low-priority hands-on projects such as internal test kits, with room to learn through doing.
- Collaborate closely with the Device Management Team (DMT) on day-to-day project execution.
- Participate in code reviews to learn safe practices for timing-critical and OTA-sensitive code paths.
- Take ownership of small modules and grow into larger development responsibilities over 6–12 months.
What You'll BringMust-Have
- Engineering background in any discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or related) — most of our team comes from non-CS backgrounds.
- Basics of C programming (variables, control flow, functions, pointers at an introductory level).
- Genuine dedication and focus on assigned work — willingness to stay with hard problems until solved.
- Strong learning appetite and curiosity about embedded systems and how things actually work.
- Embedded engineering is your first or second career choice, not a fallback.
- Available to start immediately.
Good-to-Have
- Exposure to embedded protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, or CAN through projects, labs, or self-learning.
- Personal or academic projects involving microcontrollers (Arduino, STM32, ESP32, etc.).
- Familiarity with bitwise operations and low-level memory concepts in C.
- Interest in automotive applications and IoT.
