Job Description – CBSE PGT Computer Science Teacher
Job Summary
The PGT Computer Science Teacher is responsible for teaching Computer Science and Information Technology to senior secondary students (Classes VI - X) in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The teacher will develop students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills in programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies while preparing them for board examinations and higher education.
Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver Computer Science lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum.
- Teach programming languages, data structures, database management systems, computer networks, and related topics.
- Conduct practical laboratory sessions and project-based learning activities.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Guide students in developing computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Design and administer tests, assignments, projects, practical examinations, and assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain records of attendance, grades, practical work, and academic progress.
- Prepare students for CBSE board examinations and competitive academic pursuits.
Laboratory Management
- Supervise and maintain the computer laboratory.
- Ensure the proper functioning of computer systems, software, and related equipment.
- Promote safe and responsible use of technology and digital resources.
- Coordinate with technical staff regarding maintenance and upgrades.
Student Development
- Mentor students in academic projects, coding competitions, and technology-related activities.
- Encourage participation in innovation programs, hackathons, and computer clubs.
- Support students in career exploration related to computer science and information technology.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and academic documentation.
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, training programs, and parent-teacher meetings.
- Participate in examination duties, school events, and co-curricular activities.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a related field.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized institution.
- Strong knowledge of CBSE Computer Science curriculum and assessment practices.
- Proficiency in programming, database management, and computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Computer Science at the senior secondary level.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cybersecurity.
- Experience using smart classroom technologies and digital learning platforms.
