JOB ROLE
The CNG System Engine and Vehicle Calibration Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and validating calibration strategies for vehicles equipped with CNG systems. This role focuses on fine-tuning engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions compliance, specifically for CNG-powered vehicles while integrating new technologies and improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calibration Development: Develop and refine calibration strategies for CNG fuel systems, including tuning for performance, fuel economy, and emissions control.
- Testing & Validation: Conduct comprehensive testing of CNG-equipped vehicles to validate calibration settings and ensure compliance with emissions regulations and performance standards.
- Data Analysis: Analyse test data to identify areas for improvement, optimize calibration parameters, and implement necessary adjustments to enhance vehicle performance.
- Integration & Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to integrate and implement calibration strategies into vehicle systems.
- Software & Tools Utilization: Use calibration software and diagnostic tools (e.g., ETAS, INCA, Vector) to modify and optimize engine control parameters for CNG systems.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of calibration procedures, test results, and engineering changes for compliance and future reference.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all calibration processes adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements for CNG vehicles.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNG technology, regulatory changes, and industry trends to continuously improve calibration processes and vehicle performance.
- Dataset comparison, Dataset merging, Generation of production dataset, Generation hex to json file, final dataset releasing to production.
- Good Driving Skills with Valid (3W) Driving License.
- Understanding of Sensor and Actuators, Actuators for ECM I/O Configurations.
- Knowledge of Catalytic converter monitoring and OBD systen validation.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is advantageous.
Proven experience with engine calibration, particularly for CNG engines or alternative fuel systems.
In-depth understanding of engine performance characteristics, fuel systems, and emissions control, specifically for CNG applications.
Proficiency with calibration and diagnostic software (e.g., ETAS, INCA, Vector) and data acquisition tools.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with various departments.
Knowledge of CNG-specific regulatory standards and emissions regulations.
Experience with engine simulation tools (e.g., GT-Power, MATLAB/Simulink) is a plus.

B.E/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech - Mechanical/Automobile
ANY SPECIFIC SKILLS / REMARKS
Experience with hybrid and alternative fuel powertrains in addition to CNG.
Familiarity with engine management systems and their integration with CNG fuel systems.
Understanding of vehicle dynamics and the impact of calibration changes on overall vehicle performance.
Certifications related to CNG systems or emissions testing.
