A Commis 1 in the kitchen is an entry-level chef who supports senior kitchen staff such as the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in preparing and cooking food, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring quality standards.
Job Description for Commis 1 (Kitchen)
Key Responsibilities:
Assist senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to recipes and quality standards.
Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, meats, and fruits.
Ensure proper mise en place (preparation and organization of ingredients) for food production.
Cook and assemble dishes under supervision, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including workstations, utensils, and storage areas.
Follow food safety and sanitation policies strictly to comply with health regulations.
Control food stock and minimize wastage by proper handling and storage of ingredients.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries and monitoring inventory levels.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunctions to supervisors.
Support the kitchen team during busy periods by communicating effectively and assisting where needed.
Participate in training sessions and implement new recipes and techniques as directed.
Occasionally prepare special meals or substitute items as requested.
Help with plating and garnishing dishes to meet presentation standards.
May supervise junior commis chefs or kitchen helpers as experience grows.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
