Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Engineer with strong expertise in reinforced
concrete design (RCC) and hands-on experience in structural steel and timber design,
to support projects across the United States. The candidate will be responsible for
delivering code-compliant, efficient, and constructible structural solutions in
accordance with US standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Analysis
- Perform analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures (cast-in-place
and precast), including foundations, slabs, beams, columns, and shear walls.
- Design structural steel systems including moment frames, braced frames,
trusses, and connections.
- Design timber structures including light-frame wood, mass timber (CLT/Glulam),
and hybrid systems.
- Apply relevant US codes and standards:
- ACI 318 (Concrete Design)
- AISC 360 / AISC 341 (Steel Design & Seismic)
- NDS (National Design Specification for Wood Construction)
- ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads & Load Combinations)
- IBC (International Building Code)
Modeling & Software
- Develop structural models and perform analysis using:
- ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, RAM Structural System
- Perform foundation design using tools like RISA Foundation (preferred).
- Utilize Excel / MathCAD for design calculations.
- Coordinate with BIM teams using Autodesk Revit.
- Documentation & Deliverables
- Prepare structural calculations packages for permit and construction.
- Develop construction drawings, details, and specifications.
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
- Produce engineering reports and design narratives.
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Participate in coordination meetings and design reviews.
- Provide technical guidance and support to drafting/BIM teams.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all designs meet US building codes and jurisdictional requirements.
- Conduct internal QA/QC reviews and peer checks.
- Address constructability and value engineering considerations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering
- Strong experience in reinforced concrete design (ACI 318 mandatory)
- Working knowledge of AISC steel design and NDS timber design
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (ETABS, RAM, STAAD, etc.)
- Familiarity with US codes (IBC, ASCE 7)
- Experience with seismic design (ASCE 7, AISC 341) will be preferred
- Exposure to mass timber (CLT, Glulam) projects will be preferred
- Experience working with US-based clients or firms will be preferred
- Strong understanding of structural systems and load paths
- Ability to interpret and apply US codes and standards
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
- Effective communication in a remote/global team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
