Student Counsellor – CBSE School
Job Summary:
The Student Counsellor will support the academic, emotional, and social well-being of students in alignment with guidelines from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The role involves providing guidance, addressing behavioral concerns, and helping students make informed academic and career decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions for students.
- Support students dealing with stress, anxiety, peer pressure, and academic challenges.
- Identify behavioral or emotional concerns and create intervention plans.
- Conduct career guidance sessions for senior students (Classes IX–XII).
- Assist students in subject selection and future academic planning.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to support student development.
- Organize workshops on mental health, life skills, and well-being.
- Maintain confidential student records and counselling documentation.
- Address issues like bullying, discipline, and social adjustment.
- Create awareness programs on emotional health and resilience.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Psychology / Counselling / Applied Psychology
- Diploma or certification in School Counselling (preferred)
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a school counsellor
- Experience in CBSE or reputed schools preferred
Skills Required:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Empathy and active listening abilities
- Knowledge of child and adolescent psychology
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality
- Crisis management and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
- Career counselling certification
- Experience in handling board exam stress and student wellness programs
- Ability to conduct workshops and awareness sessions
