Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Urology Medical Coder with hands-on experience in coding patient charts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for urology encounters while ensuring compliance with payer guidelines, coding regulations, and documentation standards. The role requires strong knowledge of urology procedures, surgical coding, and medical terminology to support accurate reimbursement and high coding quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and code inpatient, outpatient, office visit, and surgical charts related to urology services.
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on physician documentation.
- Code a wide range of urology procedures, including cystoscopy, prostate procedures, vasectomy, lithotripsy, ureteroscopy, nephrectomy, TURP, catheterization, and other diagnostic and surgical interventions.
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with payer-specific guidelines, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, and Medicare regulations.
- Analyze clinical documentation and query providers when clarification is required.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting turnaround time (TAT) requirements.
- Identify documentation deficiencies and provide feedback to improve coding accuracy.
- Stay current with annual coding updates, payer policies, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with physicians, auditors, billing teams, and RCM staff to resolve coding-related issues.
- Participate in internal quality audits and implement corrective actions based on audit feedback.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on medical coding experience, with at least 1–2 years specializing in Urology.
- Strong experience coding directly from patient charts and operative reports.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and medical terminology.
- Thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, and urology-specific procedures.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer guidelines, and NCCI edits.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and medical coding software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or equivalent certification from AAPC or AHIMA.
- Experience working in a US Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) environment.
- Knowledge of Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding guidelines.
- Experience with coding quality audits and documentation improvement initiatives.

Compensation
Salary: As per company standards and candidate experience.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
