An ELV Project Engineer designs, installs, and maintains audiovisual systems, ensuring that hardware like cameras, microphones, and displays work together as a single, user-friendly ecosystem. They manage the entire project lifecycle—from initial planning and physical installation to system programming and ongoing troubleshooting. Core Responsibilities
- System Design & Planning: Assess client needs and design customized AV solutions that fit within the physical space and the organization's budget. Hardware Installation & Wiring: Fabricate equipment racks, route cables, terminate connections, and securely mount displays, projectors, and speakers.
- Programming & Configuration: Configure digital signal processors (DSP), control systems, and collaborative conferencing platforms (e.g., Cisco, Zoom, Teams) for seamless device interoperability.
- Testing & Commissioning: Conduct end-to-end testing, perform line tests, and resolve signal flow issues to verify optimal performance before handing off the system.
- Client Training & Support: Provide hands-on training to end-users and deliver ongoing technical support, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with architects, IT specialists, and construction teams to ensure technology melds properly with building infrastructure.
Key Skills Required
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of signal flow, Audio over IP (AoIP/Dante), and IT network infrastructures.
- Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic capabilities to quickly identify and repair audio failures, visual distortions, or software malfunctions.
- Project Management: Ability to read schematics, manage multiple tasks, and keep projects on schedule.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to articulate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders and resolve change orders.
