Business Development Manager – Sustainability, Certification & Carbon Markets

Company Profile:
The Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF) is an Indian non-profit organization committed to promoting sustainable forest management, responsible sourcing of forest products, and conservation of natural resources. NCCF develops and manages internationally aligned certification schemes for Sustainable Forest Management (SFM), Trees Outside Forests (ToF), and Chain of Custody (CoC) to support responsible forestry and sustainable supply chains.
NCCF works closely with government agencies, industry, certification bodies, forest owners, and other stakeholders to strengthen sustainable forest governance and improve market access for certified products. It is also establishing Carbon Registry–India, a national platform for carbon trading and tracking verified greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, removals, and sustainable development contributions.
Through certification, capacity building, awareness programmes, and technical support, NCCF promotes biodiversity conservation, climate action, enhanced forest cover, improved livelihoods, and India's sustainable development and green growth objectives.
Job Purpose
To lead and drive business development initiatives for all certification, verification, registry, training, and sustainability schemes of the Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF). The role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, acquiring clients, expanding NCCF's market presence, and contributing to revenue growth through promotion of NCCF's schemes and services.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
1. Develop and implement business development strategies to promote all NCCF schemes and services.
2. Identify, generate, and convert new business opportunities across forestry, agriculture, agroforestry, Trees Outside Forests (ToF), sustainable forest management, carbon markets, ESG, biodiversity, renewable energy, sustainable supply chains, eco-tourism, certification, and other environmental and sustainability sectors.
3. Achieve annual business development and revenue targets for NCCF's programmes and certification schemes.
4. Prepare annual business plans, sales forecasts, and market expansion strategies.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
1. Identify and onboard new clients, project developers, industries, government agencies, PSUs, NGOs, cooperatives, FPOs, academic institutions, international organizations, and private sector companies.
2. Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
3. Conduct client meetings, presentations, negotiations, and business discussions.
4. Prepare technical and commercial proposals, quotations, and service agreements.
Promotion of NCCF Schemes
Promote and expand business for NCCF's certification, registry, and sustainability programmes, including but not limited to:
· Sustainable Forest Management (SFM)
· Trees Outside Forests (ToF) Certification
· Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification
· Carbon Registry–India (CR-I)
· Eco-Tourism Certification
· Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFP) Certification
· Safeboards Certification
· Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) services
· Sustainability assessments, capacity-building programmes, and other NCCF initiatives.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
1. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities.
2. Monitor national and international developments relating to sustainability, carbon markets, biodiversity, climate change, forestry, certification, and ESG.
3. Recommend new business models, partnerships, and innovative service offerings.
Partnerships & Networking
1. Develop strategic alliances with government departments, ministries, industries, certification bodies, validation and verification bodies (VVBs), financial institutions, multilateral agencies, consulting firms, research organizations, and international partners.
2. Represent NCCF at conferences, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, and industry forums.
3. Build collaborations that strengthen NCCF's national and international presence.
Marketing & Brand Promotion
1. Work closely with the communications and technical teams to develop brochures, presentations, case studies, and promotional material.
2. Support digital marketing campaigns, awareness programmes, webinars, and outreach activities.
3. Promote NCCF's brand and services through various business development channels.
Project Coordination
1. Coordinate with technical, certification, and operations teams to ensure seamless onboarding and delivery of projects.
2. Facilitate timely submission of client documentation and project requirements.
3. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Reporting & MIS
1. Maintain an updated sales pipeline and CRM database.
2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual business development reports.
3. Present progress reports, revenue forecasts, and business performance to senior management.
Qualification
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Forestry, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
2. MBA in Marketing, Business Development, International Business, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
1. 5–10 years of experience in business development, marketing, consulting, certification, sustainability, environmental services, forestry, carbon markets, ESG, or related sectors.
2. Experience working with government agencies, international organizations, certification bodies, or sustainability programmes will be preferred.

7. Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools.
8. Willingness to travel extensively across India and internationally, as required.

Package: Salary is commensurate with experience and skill
