The Opportunity:
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for architecture, design, implementation, and management of the AWS cloud infrastructure for ACA Group (“ACA”)’s software and provisioned using the CDK.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape and scale the cloud foundation that powers ACA’s software products. In this role, you’ll work with a modern AWS-native stack, collaborate closely with developers and product teams, and influence architectural decisions that directly impact performance, reliability, and security across our platforms. You’ll contribute to building thoughtful, well-architected infrastructure using IaC, automation, and DevOps best practices, while having room to experiment, bring forward new ideas, and continuously refine how we deliver and operate.
What you’ll do:
Design, implement, and maintain secure and fault tolerant infrastructure and cloud software environments while applying fundamental principles of the AWS Well Architected Framework
Manage the immutable infrastructure via CDK written in TypeScript
Operate the development tools, such as IDEs, test environments, code repositories, artifact hosting, test runners, and automated release processes to enable developers
Oversee the deployment of servers, storage, databases, and other required infrastructure
Help design, oversee, and test the disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Participate on an agile team and work in the full development lifecycle
Perform analysis, design, development, unit testing, code reviews and deployment of cloud infrastructure
Participate in an on-call rotation
Make pragmatic design and architectural decisions with security in mind
Investigate and pinpoint defects, deficiencies, or service outages
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
Background in Software Development or Software Engineering
Five years of professional hands-on experience building and managing AWS infrastructure using IaC (either using the AWS CDK using TypeScript, Terraform, or CloudFormation)
Experience with scripting languages – Python (Boto3), Bash (AWS CLI), PowerShell, TypeScript (nice to have)
Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
Deep experience with observability platforms (New Relic, CloudWatch, Athena)
Experience containerizing workloads and working with Docker environments
Knowledge of Serverless architecture patterns and best practices
Experience with and understanding of Linux and Windows environments
Deep network architecture knowledge including VPN, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect
Experience with RDS, EC2, Fargate, S3, Glacier, Lambdas, ECS, EKS, Secrets, and CloudFront
Experience with project management and collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence

Preferred Education and Experience
AWS certifications are a plus but not required
Experience with Azure or Google Cloud is a plus but not required
Experience with GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy
Software Development experience using C#, TypeScript, Python, Java is a big plus
Experience with Ruby or Golang is a plus
