Job description:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise Marine Technicians: Oversee the activities of marine engine technicians working on the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical sensors. Inspect their work to ensure quality and accuracy.
2. Real-time Data Monitoring: Track real-time data from Omni, Met, and Tsunami Buoys related to earthquake and tsunami events. Monitor and verify the data for accuracy and performance.
3. Server Room & Modem Maintenance: Handle server rooms and ensure all data reception modems are functioning properly, enabling uninterrupted data flow from deployed buoys.
4. Buoy Data Handling & Reporting: Manage data from FTP, GTS, ARGO, GPS, and INSAT transmissions; analyze and create reports on buoy stoppages, earthquakes, tsunamis, and drift. Create and submit monthly reports for all buoys to the Chief scientists.
5. Daily Log Sheets & Reports: Prepare and update log sheets for each buoy, verify data integrity, and submit daily performance/status reports to the Chief Scientists for ongoing review and operational decisions.
6. Monitor Equipment with ADDRESS System: Use the ADDRESS system to monitor the operational status of electronics, electrical, and mechanical components across all deployed platforms.
7. SOP/OEM Compliance: Ensure that all equipment maintenance, deployment, and operations both on vessels and at shore stations follow Standard Operating Procedures and OEM guidelines.
8. Cruise Planning & Coordination: Create cruise tracks for upcoming expeditions, manage buoy deployment/retrieval communications during cruises, and compile related operational reports.
9. Buoy Record Maintenance: Maintain detailed records of deployment/retrieval events, missed transmissions, INCOIS/LES reports, and ensure complete buoy lifecycle tracking.
10. Data Visualization & System Management: Plot buoy data using tools like Ferret, Grapher, Origin, and MATLAB. Maintain data storage systems, update relevant software, and coordinate with managers to analyze feedback and implement continuous improvements.
Preference/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree - Maths/Physics/Oceanographic or Diploma in Engineering in EEE, ECE, CSC, IT
1-3 Years of Experience in any field
Willing to Work in Any Shifts.
