About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Developer Intern with strong hands-on skills in Node.js/TypeScript, Nest.js/Express.js/Fastify, and REST API development. You will assist in building and maintaining backend services and APIs that power our products, working closely with senior engineers on real production code. This role is open to freshers as well as candidates transitioning into backend development from another domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain REST APIs
- Develop backend services using Node.js/TypeScript with Nest.js, Express.js, or Fastify
- Collaborate with senior engineers on feature development
- Debug and troubleshoot issues in development environments
- Write clean, documented, and testable code
- Write and maintain unit tests and E2E tests for backend services and APIs
- Maintain documentation for APIs and backend workflows
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Node.js / TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with at least one backend framework: Nest.js, Express.js, or Fastify
- Strong understanding of REST API design and implementation
- At least one project (personal, academic, or freelance) built using the above skills is mandatory
- Strong learning attitude and problem-solving mindset
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Exposure to SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub version control
- TypeORM or Prisma (basic ORM usage)
- Caching / Redis (basic understanding)
- WebSockets (basic understanding/exposure)
- Basic understanding of authentication (JWT/OAuth)
- Exposure to Docker or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Playwright)
