Role Summary
We are looking for a passionate and industry-aware Fashion Designing Faculty member to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in fashion theory and practice, combined with the ability to deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned instruction across design, garment construction, textile studies, and trend research. This is a full-time role that combines teaching excellence with academic mentoring, content development, and active contribution to the department's growth.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Studio Instruction
- Deliver scheduled lectures, studio sessions, and critiques as per the academic timetable for Fashion Designing modules.
- Teach across subjects including Fashion Illustration, Garment Construction, Textile Science, Pattern Making, History of Fashion, Fashion Forecasting, and Portfolio Development.
- Ensure sessions are interactive, project-based, and aligned with module learning outcomes.
- Integrate current industry trends, sustainability practices, and global design movements into classroom delivery.
Content & Curriculum Development
- Develop teaching content, presentations, reference materials, trend boards, and case studies for assigned modules.
- Design practical, industry-relevant assignment briefs that encourage creativity, research, and application-based learning.
- Suggest curriculum improvements based on evolving industry trends, student learning needs, and academic observations.
- Actively participate in curriculum review discussions and academic planning meetings.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Create examination papers, internal assessment questions, rubrics, and evaluation criteria aligned with module objectives.
- Submit exam papers, marking schemes, and graded work within institutional deadlines.
- Conduct portfolio reviews, design juries, and critique sessions to provide structured feedback.
Student Support & Mentoring
- Resolve student academic queries related to modules, assignments, submissions, and assessments within 24–48 working hours.
- Provide guidance on exam preparation, portfolio building, and professional development.
- Monitor batch attendance and escalate concerns to the academic coordinator as required.
Academic Administration
- Maintain and update lesson plans, session plans, attendance records, assessment trackers, and module files within required timelines.
- Ensure full audit readiness and compliance with the academic calendar.
- Coordinate with assigned batches as the primary academic point of contact for module-related updates and deadlines.
Industry & Professional Linkages
- Support or facilitate at least one industry project, factory visit, or field trip per semester.
- Coordinate or conduct at least one guest lecture or industry workshop per semester.
- Assist in building internship linkages, collaborations, and professional network opportunities for students.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant industry experience in fashion design, apparel production, or styling — prior teaching experience is an advantage.
- Proficiency in fashion illustration (hand-drawn and digital), pattern making, draping, and garment construction.
- Working knowledge of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or CLO 3D (preferred).
- Sound understanding of textile science, garment technology, and production processes.
- Familiarity with fashion forecasting tools, trend research platforms, and industry publications.
