Job Summary
The Foreman is responsible for supervising daily workshop operations, assigning repair and maintenance work to technicians, ensuring repairs are completed according to OEM standards, monitoring productivity, maintaining quality, and ensuring timely vehicle delivery while promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day workshop activities.
- Allocate repair and maintenance jobs to technicians based on their skill level and workload.
- Monitor the progress of repair jobs and ensure timely completion.
- Guide technicians in diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.
- Ensure all repair and maintenance work complies with OEM standards and workshop SOPs.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors regarding job status, customer requirements, and delivery timelines.
- Conduct quality inspections before vehicle delivery.
- Coordinate with the Spare Parts Department to ensure timely availability of parts.
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and attendance.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and calibration of workshop tools and equipment.
- Maintain workshop discipline, cleanliness, and 5S standards.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Support warranty inspections and verify warranty repair work.
- Prepare daily workshop reports, productivity reports, and pending job reports.
- Assist in resolving technical issues and customer complaints.
- Train and mentor technicians on new repair procedures, diagnostic methods, and OEM updates.
- Support the Workshop Manager in achieving workshop productivity, revenue, and customer satisfaction targets.
Education & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- ITI with relevant workshop experience may also be considered.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in an automobile workshop.
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or Foreman role.
- Experience in Commercial Vehicles (CV), Passenger Vehicles (PV), or Heavy Vehicles is preferred.
