Job Title: Embedded Systems / Vision Hardware Design Engineer (Vision-Based Systems)
We’re looking for an innovative Vision Hardware Design Engineer who specializes in embedded vision systems, combining expertise in imaging sensors, optics, and embedded compute design.
You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — optics, AI/ML, firmware, and mechanical — to deliver end-to-end embedded vision platforms optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Imaging & Optics
Specify and evaluate camera modules (global/rolling shutter, HDR, line-scan, ToF, stereo, hyperspectral).
Design and optimize optical assemblies including lenses, filters, and apertures for diverse lighting and environmental conditions.
Integrate structured light, laser illumination, IR/NIR/VIR, and LED systems for 2D/3D vision applications.
Embedded System Design
Architect and develop embedded vision platforms using SoCs, FPGAs, GPUs, and custom hardware accelerators.
Implement high-speed interfaces: MIPI CSI-2, PCIe Gen4, USB3 Vision, GigE Vision, CoaXPress, LVDS.
Design custom PCBs and interface boards to connect image sensors with compute platforms.
Optimize signal integrity, timing, power management, and thermal performance.
Signal Communication & Interfaces
- Design and integrate communication buses including RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet for sensor and actuator interfaces.
- Implement real-time communication protocols for data acquisition, system control, and diagnostic feedback.
- Work with industrial protocols (Modbus, CANopen, EtherCAT) for multi-sensor synchronization and control systems.
Testing & Validation
- Conduct camera performance validation (MTF, SNR, dynamic range, latency).
- Perform EMI/EMC, environmental, and stress testing to ensure robust operation.
- Maintain detailed hardware documentation, schematics, and test reports.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Expertise
- Strong foundation in embedded electronics, FPGA design, and hardware integration.
- Hands-on experience with camera sensors, optics, lighting, and imaging system design.
- Proficiency in hardware design tools (Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad) and simulation tools (LTspice, MATLAB, Ansys).
- Experience with firmware and low-level driver development (C/C++, Python, VHDL/Verilog).
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS), Linux kernel, and device tree configuration.
Preferred Experience
- Prior work on machine vision cameras, robotic vision, or edge AI systems.
- Familiarity with ISP pipelines, image calibration, and real-time vision algorithms.
- Experience with 3D imaging, depth cameras, LiDAR, or SLAM-based systems.
- Exposure to industrial standards (USB3 Vision, GenICam, GigE Vision, CoaXPress).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- 3–7 years of experience in embedded hardware and vision system design.
- Demonstrated ability to take concept to production in embedded vision or imaging projects.
Technology Stack
- Compute Platforms: NVIDIA Jetson Orin, Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+, Intel Movidius Myriad X, Qualcomm QRB5165
- Sensors: Sony IMX series, OnSemi AR series, FLIR thermal, Basler & Teledyne cameras
