Job Summary
The Pharmacy Store Incharge is responsible for the efficient management of the hospital pharmacy store, ensuring the uninterrupted availability of medicines, surgical consumables, and other pharmaceutical supplies. The role includes inventory management, procurement coordination, regulatory compliance, stock monitoring, and supervision of pharmacy store operations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and accuracy.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Management
- Maintain optimum stock levels of medicines, surgical consumables, and pharmacy supplies.
- Monitor inventory using FIFO/FEFO principles to minimize wastage due to expiry.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock verification and reconciliation.
- Monitor near-expiry, expired, damaged, and slow-moving items and ensure timely disposal or return as per policy.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the Hospital Information System (HIS) or Pharmacy Management Software.
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Raise purchase requisitions based on consumption patterns and minimum stock levels.
- Coordinate with the Purchase Department and approved vendors for timely procurement.
- Verify received materials against purchase orders and invoices.
- Ensure proper documentation of inward and outward stock transactions.
Storage & Distribution
- Ensure medicines are stored according to manufacturer recommendations, including temperature-sensitive products.
- Maintain cold chain requirements for vaccines and other temperature-controlled medications.
- Issue medicines and consumables accurately to pharmacy outlets and hospital departments.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and security of the pharmacy store.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Pharmacy Council guidelines, NABH standards, and hospital policies.
- Maintain records for batch numbers, expiry dates, controlled drugs, and narcotic medicines.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Ensure all documentation is complete and readily available for inspections.
Team Management
- Supervise pharmacy store assistants and support staff.
- Allocate duties and monitor daily workflow.
- Train staff on inventory control procedures, SOPs, and safety practices.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.
- Monitor stock consumption trends and prepare management reports.
- Maintain records of stock adjustments, returns, transfers, and disposal.
- Assist in budgeting and annual inventory planning.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration.
- Certification in inventory management is an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy or pharmacy store management.
- Experience in NABH-accredited hospitals is preferred.

- Proficiency in Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Pharmacy ERP, and Microsoft Office.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per hour
