Role Summary
We are hiring a BI Engineer to design and deliver analytics solutions on Microsoft Fabric for client engagements across India, UAE, KSA, UK, and Australia. You will own semantic models, Fabric data workloads, and report delivery end-to-end, while maintaining and migrating existing Tableau estates where clients run dual stacks. This is a client-facing delivery role - you translate business requirements into governed, performant BI assets, not just dashboards.
Domain preference: candidates with automotive OEM commercial / sales-performance data experience will be prioritised.
What You’ll Do
- Design star-schema semantic models and build reports and dashboards in Power BI on Fabric capacities
- Build and operate Fabric workloads: Lakehouse/OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, Data Pipelines, and notebooks (PySpark / Spark SQL) for transformation
- Develop Direct Lake semantic models; choose correctly between Direct Lake, Import, and DirectQuery per workload
- Write advanced DAX and Power Query (M); tune for performance — query folding, incremental refresh, aggregations, VertiPaq optimisation
- Maintain, enhance, and where required migrate existing Tableau workbooks and dashboards to Power BI
- Implement governance: workspace strategy, deployment pipelines with Git integration, RLS/OLS, sensitivity labels, capacity monitoring (F-SKUs)
- Design and support hybrid architectures: on-premises data gateway connectivity, and on-prem → cloud migrations (SSAS Tabular, Power BI Report Server, Tableau Server estates into Fabric / cloud)
- Work directly with client stakeholders: requirements gathering, spec writing, UAT, and delivery documentation
Must-Have
- 4+ years Power BI (Desktop + Service): advanced DAX (context transition, CALCULATE mechanics), Power Query/M, composite models
- 12+ months hands-on Microsoft Fabric: Direct Lake, OneLake shortcuts, Dataflows Gen2, Data Pipelines, Lakehouse vs Warehouse trade-offs
- 2+ years Tableau (Desktop; Server/Cloud exposure): LOD expressions, extracts vs live, dashboard actions and performance tuning
- Hands-on with both on-premise and cloud deployment models: SQL Server / SSAS Tabular, Power BI Report Server or Tableau Server on-prem; Fabric / Power BI Service and Tableau Cloud; hybrid connectivity via the on-premises data gateway
- Strong SQL and dimensional modelling (Kimball); comfortable working against warehouse / lakehouse sources
- Deployment discipline: workspace lifecycle, deployment pipelines, Git-integrated Fabric items
- Clear written and spoken English; able to run stakeholder sessions independently
Good-to-Have
- Automotive OEM domain experience — commercial / sales-performance data: wholesale vs retail volumes, dealer network KPIs, incentives / VME, fleet, pricing; NSC or regional sales-org exposure is a strong plus
- DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate) — strongly preferred; PL-300 expected
- Python / PySpark in Fabric notebooks beyond copy-paste level
- Tableau-to-Power BI migration project experience
- Azure data estate context: ADF / Synapse and migration paths into Fabric
- Purview, or any formal data governance exposure
- Consulting / services delivery background (multi-client, deadline-driven)
Certifications
- Required or in-progress: PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst)
- Strongly preferred: DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer)
- Bonus: DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer), Tableau Desktop Specialist / Certified Data Analyst
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
- Paid sick time
- Paid time off
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Gurgaon, Haryana
