Position Overview
The Program Manager is accountable for the delivery of Microair Avionics' OEM customer programs and internal development projects, several running concurrently at different stages of maturity.
Based at Microair's Indore facility and working across the company's Australian, US, Irish and Indian operations, the role converts customer commitments into achievable plans, keeps those plans honest as they meet reality, and removes whatever stands between the delivery team and the outcome.
Authority is held over program scope, schedule baseline, budget and risk disposition within the approved contract, and the position is the delegated voice of Microair to the customer on program matters.
Leadership is exercised through influence rather than line authority: the team creates the value, and the Program Manager's job is to enable it.
Key Responsibilities1. Program Ownership
Hold end-to-end accountability for multiple concurrent OEM delivery programs and development projects, from contract award through certification to entry into service and closeout.
2. Scope Translation & Planning
Dissect the customer statement of work into a detailed, resourced and achievable plan — work breakdown, schedule, milestones and dependencies — expressed so the delivery team and the customer work from the same picture.
3. Team Enablement
Operate on the basis that the team creates customer and company value, not the manager. Clear roadblocks, protect focus, and secure the resources and decisions the team is waiting on, including those held in another time zone.
4. Influence Without Authority
Secure commitment, priority and follow-through from peers and their teams across Engineering, Operations, Quality and Commercial — and across the Indian, Australian, Irish and US sites — without relying on positional authority.
5. Customer Engagement
Act as the principal customer-facing contact for assigned programs and represent Microair credibly at OEM design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and program gates, contributing to the technical discussion rather than deferring it.
6. Risk & Opportunity Management
Run living risk and opportunity registers on every program, on the basis that unmanaged risk is the most likely cause of schedule slip. Own mitigations to closure and pursue opportunities with equal discipline.
7. Schedule, Cost & Revenue
Own program schedule, cost and revenue performance. Maintain credible forecasts, manage milestone claims and revenue timing, and escalate early and with options.
8. Change & Variation Control
Identify scope change as it emerges, assess the schedule and cost impact, and agree variations with the customer before the work is quietly absorbed.
9. Value Realisation
Define how the value created by each program is measured, and test that against what the customer expects and pays for, so any gap surfaces while there is still time to act.
Skills & ExperienceEducation
- Bachelor degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in engineering or a related technical discipline — essential.
- Formal program or project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) — desirable.
- A substantial delivery track record is accepted in lieu of formal qualifications.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years in engineering or technical delivery, including 4 years managing programs in their own right — essential.
- Demonstrated ownership of several concurrent customer programs and development projects — essential.
- Met schedule, cost and revenue commitments on fixed-price and milestone-based contracts — essential.
- Managed distributed teams and customers across Indian, Australian, European and US time zones — essential.
- Fluent professional English; willing to travel internationally to customer and Microair sites — essential.
- Aerospace or avionics background — desirable; equivalent experience in another regulated safety-critical domain (defence electronics, automotive functional safety, medical devices, rail) is accepted.
- Exposure to STC and TSO/ETSO certification schedules — desirable.
System Knowledge
- Scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera or equivalent) and Microsoft 365 to intermediate Excel — essential.
- Yogi for requirements and Xray for verification traceability, sufficient to read program status from the tools rather than from status meetings — desirable.
- Dynamics 365 Business Central for cost, purchasing and material visibility — desirable.
- Aircraft systems and avionics architecture sufficient to hold a technical conversation with an OEM; working awareness of ARP4754B, ARP4761A, DO-160, DO-178C and DO-254 — valued.
Pay: ₹726,115.68 - ₹1,226,025.36 per year
