A Tool Design Engineer for injection molding specializes in creating, developing, and optimizing plastic injection molds, often using 3D CAD software like Creo. They are responsible for designing mold components (cores, cavities, sliders, lifters), conducting DFM (Design for Manufacturability) studies, and simulating mold flow to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Mold Design: Create full 3D mold assemblies and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for complex plastic parts.
- DFM & Optimization: Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to identify potential production issues and improve quality.
- Engineering Analysis: Run mold flow simulations (cooling, shrinkage, filling) to optimize gating strategies and mold performance.
- Coordination: Coordinate with tool makers and production teams for design execution and validation.
- Maintenance Support: Support mold maintenance and troubleshooting, especially for high-volume manufacturing.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die Making.
- Software Proficiency: Strong expertise in CAD tools, particularly Siemens NX (Unigraphics), SolidWorks, or Autodesk Inventor.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of plastic materials, molding processes, mold components, and standard parts.
- Experience: Typically 2–5years in plastic injection mold design or related manufacturing roles.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
