The Transformer Designer is responsible for the electrical and mechanical design of power and distribution transformers. The role ensures strict compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, quality requirements, and internal manufacturing capabilities. Key aspects of the position involve performing complex design calculations, preparing engineering drawings, developing technical documentation, and providing cross-functional support to production, testing, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Customized Design: Design power and distribution transformers tailored to customer requirements and applicable industrial standards.
- Electrical Engineering: Perform detailed electrical design calculations related to voltage ratings, current ratings, losses, impedance, temperature rise, and efficiency.
- Component Engineering: Design transformer active parts including the core, windings, insulation systems, tank arrangements, cooling systems, and required accessories.
- Documentation & CAD: Prepare precise manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and comprehensive technical specifications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate directly with Production, Quality, and Testing teams to ensure seamless manufacturing execution.
- Standards Compliance: Guarantee strict adherence to IEC, IS, ANSI, and IEEE standards alongside customer-specific guidelines.
- Technical Support: Provide expert technical assistance to customers, vendors, Sales, and Project engineering teams.
Requirements & Technical QualificationsEducational Qualification
- Required: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- Preferred: M.Tech in Power Systems or High Voltage Engineering is a distinct advantage.
Professional Experience
- Tenure: 3–8 years of dedicated experience in transformer design.
- Specialization: Proven experience focusing on Power Transformers or Distribution Transformers is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in transformer design calculations.
- Advanced hands-on experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
- Deep knowledge of IEC, IS, ANSI, and IEEE regulatory standards.
- Strong foundational understanding of transformer manufacturing processes and testing procedures.
- Accurate BOM preparation and engineering documentation management.
Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
