Position Overview
This is a self-driven, ownership-heavy role. You will not be handed a checklist of what to test. You will look at our products, our logs, our incident history, and figure out what needs validation — including failure modes we ourselves may have missed. You will collaborate daily with hardware, firmware, and product teams, and you will have the authority to block a production release if you spot a real risk.
What You'll Do
- Design and execute end-to-end test plans for our hardware controllers and embedded firmware before each production release.
- Analyze device logs and trace data — using scripts and AI tools — to detect out-of-order events, timing anomalies, and latent failure patterns.
- Act as the final validation gate before production; raise blockers with full authority and escalate only when releases are time-critical.
- Investigate field incidents, reproduce them in the lab, and add the corresponding test cases to prevent recurrence.
- Validate hardware interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C) and embedded firmware behavior on custom controllers, including thread/interrupt timing checks.
- Travel to client sites as needed to validate deployments on live vehicles.
- Collaborate daily with hardware, firmware, and product teams; communicate findings clearly to engineers and managers.
What You'll BringMust-Have
- 1–4 years of experience in an electronics, embedded, or hardware-product environment.
- Strong fundamentals in electronics and hardware interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, embedded controllers).
- Hands-on scripting ability (Python or similar) to parse and analyze device logs.
- Logical thinking and the ability to design test plans from a blank page — without being told what to test.
- Self-driven ownership: figures out solutions independently rather than waiting for direction.
- Strong communication skills for daily cross-team collaboration.
- Willingness to work full-time from our Bangalore office and travel to client sites when required.
Good-to-Have
- Prior experience validating embedded systems or IoT/telematics products.
- Exposure to RTOS concepts and thread/interrupt timing analysis (e.g., nRF, FreeRTOS).
- Experience using AI-assisted tooling for log mining and pattern detection.
- Comfort working with custom (non-standard) hardware platforms.
