Role Overview
We are hiring an experienced Construction Safety Officer to implement, oversee, and enforce Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards across our active project sites. The ideal candidate will ensure zero-accident tolerance by enforcing Indian statutory safety regulations, the National Building Code (NBC 2016), and relevant Indian Standard (IS) codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory Compliance & Audits: Ensure compliance with the BOCW Act (Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996), Factories Act guidelines, state fire norms, and relevant IS codes (e.g., IS 3696 for scaffolding, IS 3764 for excavation).
- Work Permitting (PTW): Issue, supervise, and close site permits including Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Height Work, Excavation, and Heavy Lifting/Rigging.
- Inspections & Hazard Control: Conduct daily site walks, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) across civil works, heavy plant/machinery, and structural operations.
- Toolbox Talks & Induction: Lead daily mandatory Toolbox Talks (TBT) in the local language/Hindi and conduct safety inductions for newly deployed laborers and subcontractor teams.
- Incident Reporting: Lead investigations for First Aid cases, Lost Time Injuries (LTI), and near-misses; prepare root-cause analysis (RCA) and submit monthly EHS MIS reports.
- PPE & Safety Infrastructure: Enforce strict adherence to mandatory ISI-marked PPE (helmets, safety shoes, reflective vests, safety harnesses) and maintain barricades, catch nets, edge protections, and signages.
- First Aid & Emergency Preparedness: Maintain on-site first-aid setups, emergency vehicle access, fire-fighting readiness, and conduct periodic mock drills.
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Education: Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Civil / Mechanical Engineering, or B.Sc. in Fire & Safety.
- Safety Certification (Mandatory):
- State Technical Board-approved Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS / PDIS / DIS), OR
- RLI / CLI (Regional / Central Labour Institute) certification, OR
- NEBOSH IGC (Level 3).
- Experience: 3–6+ years of site safety execution in commercial building, industrial, or infrastructure/civil roadwork projects.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of BOCW Act, Indian Standards (IS), and environmental waste management rules.
- Languages: Fluency in English and the local site language / Hindi (to effectively communicate safety instructions to on-site labor).
Preferred Skills
- Certified First Aider (St. John Ambulance / Red Cross).
- Experience coordinating with client safety auditors and third-party inspection agencies.
- Proficiency in digital reporting (MS Excel, Word, and site EHS tracking software).
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
