Quality Engineer (Medium Fabrication)
Experience: 3–5 Years
Industry: Medium Fabrication / Construction Equipment / OEM Components
Preferred Background: Experience with Caterpillar or similar global OEM products.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure product quality throughout the manufacturing process for medium and heavy fabrication components.
- Review engineering drawings, GD&T, welding symbols, and customer specifications to ensure compliance.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections using standard measuring instruments and weld gauges.
- Monitor laser cutting, bending, machining, welding, assembly, and finishing processes to achieve zero-defect production.
- Handle customer quality requirements, product approvals, and support customer audits.
- Prepare and maintain quality documents such as PPAP, FAI, Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flow Charts, and Inspection Records.
- Lead root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate NDT activities (UT, MT, PT) and ensure weld quality as per customer standards.
- Work closely with production, design, and supply chain teams to resolve quality concerns and drive process improvements.
- Track and improve quality KPIs including PPM, Rework, Scrap, and Customer Complaints.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality systems.
Desired Skills
✔ Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings, welding processes, and dimensional inspection.
✔ Hands-on experience with Medium fabricated and welded structures.
✔ Familiarity with Caterpillar quality standards requirements is an added advantage.
✔ Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
✔ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Qualification
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
