Research & Insights Volunteer – Digital Balika
Role Summary
Digital Balika is looking for a curious and motivated Research & Insights Volunteer to help us understand the experiences, challenges, and aspirations of women in technology.
As an early-stage initiative, research will play an important role in helping us understand what women actually need from a technology and career-focused community. In this role, you will support interviews, surveys, data collection, and analysis, and help turn findings into meaningful insights that can shape Digital Balika's programmes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews with women students and professionals in technology.
- Support the development of interview questions, surveys, and research questionnaires.
- Identify and reach out to potential research participants.
- Collect, organize, and maintain research data using tools such as Google Forms and Google Sheets.
- Analyse responses to identify common themes, trends, challenges, and opportunities.
- Prepare simple summaries, charts, and presentations based on research findings.
- Support the creation of Digital Balika research reports and insights.
- Share research-based ideas that can help improve community programmes and events.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and obtain consent before using participants' information or quotations.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in India.
- This volunteer opportunity is intended for women students.
- Strong interest in research, technology, women's empowerment, education, or social impact.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable conducting interviews and speaking with different people.
- Basic knowledge of Google Forms and Google Sheets.
- Analytical and curious mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to organize information and communicate findings clearly.
- Previous research, survey, interview, or data analysis experience is a plus but not required.

As part of the founding team, you may contribute to Digital Balika's initial research project exploring:
"The Experiences, Challenges & Opportunities of Women in Technology in India."
The research will involve interviewing women students and professionals, analysing responses, and identifying insights that can help us design better learning, mentorship, and community programmes.
