Job Title: Special Educator
Location: Light & Life Speech & Language Therapy Clinic, Chennai
Job Summary
Light & Life Speech & Language Therapy Clinic is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educator to join our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The ideal candidate will assess educational and developmental needs, develop individualized learning plans, and provide evidence-based educational interventions for children with developmental, learning, intellectual, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. The Special Educator will collaborate with therapists and families to promote each child's academic, functional, and social development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct educational and functional assessments.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on each child's needs.
- Provide one-on-one and group special education sessions.
- Support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other developmental conditions.
- Teach pre-academic, academic, functional, communication, social, and life skills.
- Adapt teaching methods and learning materials to meet individual learning needs.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.
- Guide parents and caregivers with home-based learning strategies.
- Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, behavioral therapists, and other professionals for holistic intervention.
- Participate in parent meetings, multidisciplinary case discussions, workshops, and clinic activities.
- Maintain ethical standards, confidentiality, and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education (B.Ed./M.Ed. Special Education) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
- Valid RCI registration (preferred/required as applicable).
- Experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
- Freshers with strong subject knowledge and a passion for special education are encouraged to apply.
