Kunnil Hypermarket is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Buyer to manage product sourcing and procurement for our hypermarket operations.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in retail purchasing, FMCG procurement, vendor management, price negotiation, and inventory planning. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability of the right products at competitive purchase prices while maintaining healthy margins and optimum stock levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end purchasing and procurement activities for assigned product categories.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate purchase prices, discounts, schemes, credit terms, and promotional offers with suppliers.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors and continuously identify new suppliers.
- Analyse sales, stock levels, product movement, and market demand to plan purchases.
- Ensure timely replenishment and availability of fast-moving products.
- Monitor purchase prices, MRP, margins, schemes, and competitor pricing.
- Conduct regular market and competitor price checks.
- Compare supplier quotations and select the most commercially competitive options.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding purchase orders, deliveries, shortages, damages, replacements, and claims.
- Identify slow-moving and non-moving products and take corrective purchasing decisions.
- Support promotional activities by negotiating special rates and supplier schemes.
- Identify new products, brands, and market opportunities to improve sales and profitability.
- Coordinate closely with the Store, Inventory, Accounts, and Management teams.
- Maintain accurate purchase records, supplier details, pricing, and related documentation.
- Ensure purchasing decisions are aligned with sales targets, inventory requirements, and company profitability.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery and service levels.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in buying/purchasing, preferably in a hypermarket, supermarket, FMCG, retail, or wholesale environment.
- Strong knowledge of FMCG, grocery, and general merchandise.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiation and vendor management.
- Good understanding of retail margins, pricing, schemes, and product movement.
- Strong knowledge of local market prices and supplier networks.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and purchase/inventory management systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple categories and suppliers.
- Strong commercial mindset with a focus on cost control, sales growth, and profitability.
Candidates currently working as Senior Buyer, Buyer, Purchase Executive, Procurement Executive, Category Buyer, or Purchase Manager in a supermarket, hypermarket, FMCG, or retail organization are preferred.
Pay: ₹29,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
