An industrial production designer in woodworking translates conceptual designs into manufacturable, high-quality wooden products. They blend aesthetic, ergonomic, and functional design with technical knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes (CNC, assembly), and cost constraints. These designers are responsible for creating detailed 2D/3D CAD models, technical drawings, and prototypes, ensuring the design can be produced efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Conceptualize furniture or wooden products, translating sketches into 3D CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD).
- Production Optimization (DFM): Design for Manufacturability, ensuring wood components can be cut, assembled, and finished efficiently on a production line.
- Technical Documentation: Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and "tech packs" (materials, hardware, finishes, assembly methods).
- Prototyping & Testing: Build and test prototypes to validate structure, functionality, aesthetics, and ergonomics before mass production.
- Collaboration: Work with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and Product Development to resolve production issues.
- Material Selection: Evaluate types of wood, veneers, and finishes, ensuring they align with aesthetic, durability, and cost requirements.
- Quality Control: Establish and maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Proficiencies: Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360) and 2D software (AutoCAD).
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, including CNC machining, joinery, and assembly.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in product design, specifically in furniture or mass-produced wood products.
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
