Job Summary:
The EHS Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role focuses on minimizing workplace hazards, ensuring safe chemical handling, preventing environmental incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Management
- Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and standards across the plant.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
2. Chemical Safety & Hazard Management
- Ensure safe storage, handling, transportation, and disposal of chemicals.
- Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory.
- Conduct hazard identification studies (HAZOP, JSA, etc.).
- Monitor compliance with chemical safety regulations.
3. Environmental Compliance
- Ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations (air, water, waste management).
- Monitor emissions, effluents, and waste disposal processes.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities for inspections and reporting.
- Implement sustainability and pollution control initiatives.
4. Incident Investigation & Reporting
- Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Track and analyze safety performance metrics.
5. Training & Awareness
- Conduct EHS training sessions and awareness programs for employees.
- Develop safety campaigns and emergency response drills.
- Ensure contractor safety compliance through orientation programs.
6. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans (fire, chemical spill, leak, etc.).
- Coordinate mock drills and emergency simulations.
- Maintain emergency equipment and first-aid facilities.
7. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain records related to safety audits, permits, inspections, and incidents.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or other relevant standards.
- Prepare statutory reports and documentation for audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Safety, or related field.
- Diploma/Certification in Industrial Safety (preferred).
- PDIS
Experience:
- 7–9 years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in a chemical or pharma industry.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of chemical safety and EHS regulations.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and audit procedures.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and training abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Reduction in workplace incidents and near misses.
- Compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.
- Successful completion of audits and inspections.
- Effectiveness of safety training programs.
Pay: ₹750,000.00 - ₹950,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
