The Team You’ll Join
You’ll join the Enterprise Business Intelligence team, which owns and supports the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI platform used across the organization for trusted reporting, analytics, and data delivery. The team partners with business users, analysts, developers, and enterprise technology groups to keep the BI platform secure, reliable, performant, and well governed.
This role is part platform administrator, part operations engineer, and part technical support partner. You’ll help maintain the health of Fabric capacities, workspaces, gateways, pipelines, semantic models, notebooks, and refresh processes that enable users to make decisions from reliable data.
How You’ll Contribute
As a BI Platform Support Engineer, you’ll help ensure our Microsoft Fabric and Power BI environment remains stable, scalable, secure, and easy to support. Your work will directly improve platform reliability, reduce operational risk, and help users resolve BI issues quickly and confidently.
Administer and support the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI tenant, including tenant settings, workspace oversight, security configuration, access management, and governance controls.
Manage Fabric administrative operations across capacities, workspaces, users, permissions, platform settings, and content lifecycle standards.
Monitor platform health and performance across Fabric capacities, workspace and asset inventory, the admin monitoring workspace, gateway availability, refresh performance, pipeline failures, and usage trends.
Use Microsoft Fabric monitoring tools, admin portal capabilities, and the Capacity Metrics App to identify capacity pressure, throttling, performance bottlenecks, inefficient workloads, and reliability risks.
Troubleshoot and resolve Fabric pipeline, notebook, gateway, credential, connectivity, refresh, semantic model, dataflow, report, dashboard, and workspace issues.
Partner with report developers, analysts, and business users to provide advanced Power BI support, platform guidance, and workload optimization recommendations.
Develop and maintain operational reporting, dashboards, and observability processes for Fabric administration, capacity management, gateway monitoring, inventory, and service health.
Create and maintain operational runbooks, support procedures, escalation paths, recovery procedures, troubleshooting documentation, and platform configuration documentation.
Support ingestion and transformation workflows in Microsoft Fabric using notebooks, Spark, and PySpark, including API-based data ingestion, data validation, lakehouse loading, and downstream analytical structures.
Help operationalize notebook-based pipelines and improve the reliability, maintainability, performance, and supportability of data ingestion workflows.
What You’ll Need to Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of experience supporting Power BI administration, BI platforms, analytics platforms, or cloud data environments.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric administration and/or Power BI administration, including workspaces, tenant settings, gateway administration, capacities, refreshes, and operational monitoring.
Strong troubleshooting experience with Power BI service issues, semantic models, refreshes, dataflows, workspaces, reports, dashboards, and related platform components.
Experience with SQL, data integration concepts, ELT/ETL processes, and enterprise data sources.
Experience supporting lakehouse-based analytics platforms and/or Fabric notebooks, Spark, and PySpark for data ingestion or transformation support.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with medallion-style analytics architectures, lakehouses, and downstream analytical structures.
Experience building or maintaining operational dashboards for platform observability, capacity management, gateway monitoring, or support metrics.
Experience optimizing Power BI or Fabric workloads that contribute to excessive capacity consumption or performance bottlenecks.
Familiarity with API-based data ingestion patterns and operationalizing notebook-based pipelines.
Ability to communicate clearly with technical teams, business stakeholders, analysts, and report developers.
Strong documentation habits, including runbooks, troubleshooting guides, administration standards, and support procedures.
A service-oriented mindset with the ability to balance platform governance, user enablement, operational urgency, and long-term maintainability.
