Technical Skill:
- Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or IWE or IWT or AWS or CSWIP.
Experience:
- 3 Years experience in the Welding /QA function – Steel castings Foundry Knowledge.
Job Responsibility:
- Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures (WPS, PQR) specific to cast materials produced in the sand foundry (Steel castings).
- Ensure compliance with applicable welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO, API).
- Support metallurgical analysis and ensure post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) or other requirements are fulfilled according to WPS/PQR.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and welding processes related to cast materials.
- Extensive experience with welding various materials including Carbon Steel, Cr-Mo Steel, Martensitic, Ferritic, and Austenitic Steel, Inconel, Duplex, Super Duplex, etc.
- Evaluate and select welding equipment, consumables, ensuring cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Lead and mentor a team of welders, providing training on welding best practices, new technologies, and industry standards.
- Evaluate and approve welding methods for repair of casting defects.
- Collaborate with foundry process engineers to minimize casting defects that require welding rework.
- Provide technical support to quality control teams on NDE (RT, MT, PT) results and weld integrity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce welding repair rates and increase efficiency.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for weld-related defects or customer complaints.
- Maintain records of welding procedures, welder certifications, and repair logs.
- Foundry and manufacturing floor environment, requiring the use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret the technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
