Job Summary:
Responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw material, equipment, goods & services as per defined procedure and managing vendors to achieve best outcome in favour of organization.
Duties (Authority)
- Approve purchase requisitions and orders up to the financial limit defined by management.
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities to procurement staff.
- Reject materials or services that do not meet quality standards.
- Select, negotiate, and finalize contracts with vendors within policy guidelines.
- Recommend vendor additions, removals, or blacklisting. to recommend improvements in procurement processes, cost-saving measures, and supplier management strategies.
Duties (Responsibility)
- Develop, implement, and monitor procurement strategies and policies.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, service, and reliability.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable contracts.
- Approve purchase requisitions and orders within authorized limits.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and financial guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with store/production teams to avoid shortages.
- Track, analyze, and report procurement performance, savings, and supplier scorecards.
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks.
- Manage procurement records, agreements, and contracts systematically.
- Support internal audits and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate the performance of subordinates.
- To co-ordinate with suppliers for addressing issues related to quality, cost and delivery of orders.
- Initiate the ordering for raw materials in shop floor- including local PO’s, outsourcing, machinning, turnkey and indirect materials based on assigned commodities.
- Coordinates with intercompany transactions pertaining to stocks and maintains material inventory.
- Monitor material consumption based on trend or pattern of material consumption of each quarter.
- Monitor supplier performance, which includes delivery & quality and take proactive measures to avoid future failures.
- To select & approve new vendors for raw material in coordination with Engineering / Quality.
- Process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Control purchasing department budgets as per management’s instruction.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
- To monitor the performance of the Vendors (RM Suppliers) and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- To coordinate with Quality Dept. to develop the vendors’ Quality System.
- To monitor the departmental objectives / Measure of performance and achieve the same.
- To carry out various continuous improvement projects in the department.
- To provide data for Management review and is a member of Management review meeting.
- To maintain all records related to department.
- To communicate the delivery schedules to vendor based on the production plan / material plan.
- To monitor inventory levels and to take suitable actions.
- To clear the payments for vendors.
- To identify training needs of subordinates and provide input to HR Dept.
- To identify the environment aspects and their impacts.
- To identify the hazards & carry out the risk assessments.
Duties (Accountability)
- Ensuring uninterrupted supply of materials and services required for smooth business operations.
- Achieving cost savings and value-for-money procurement without compromising quality.
- Maintaining effective supplier relationships and contracts to support long-term business goals.
- Compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Reporting accurate procurement data and cost analysis to management.
Qualifications
B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred) or
BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
5+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations
2+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
- Skills & Specialized knowledge
Excellent project management skills
Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as as a group
Knowledge of raw materials, quality systems and standards.
Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
