The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for the School of Natural Sciences. This role requires a balance between maintaining high-quality undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and expanding the school’s global research footprint. The Dean will manage budgets, drive faculty recruitment, modernise research laboratories, and secure external research funding.
1. Academic & Teaching Excellence
- Curriculum Quality: Review and update Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics degree program.
- Student Success: Improve student retention, graduation rates, and career placement.
- Teaching Innovation: Promote modern classroom technologies and active learning methods.
2. Research & Funding Expansion
- Grant Acquisition: Support faculty in securing major government and private research grants.
- Lab Infrastructure: Oversee the upgrading of chemistry and physics experimental facilities.
- Publications: Drive high-impact research outputs in reputable global journals.
3. Administration & Finance
- Budget Management: Allocation of resources across the three departments(Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) transparently.
- Faculty Hiring: Recruit top-tier researchers who are also dedicated teachers.
- Strategic Planning: Align school goals with the university’s broader growth vision.
Candidate Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics.
- Academic Rank: Must possess credentials suitable for appointment as a Full Professor.
- Experience: 5+ years of academic leadership (e.g., Department Chair, Associate Dean).
- Track Record: Proven history of securing research grants and publishing peer-reviewed work.
