Job Summary
The Automobile Technician is responsible for carrying out vehicle inspection, diagnosis, repair, servicing, and maintenance as per manufacturer guidelines. The role ensures quality workmanship, timely job completion, and customer satisfaction while adhering to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform periodic maintenance services (PMS) as per manufacturer schedules.
- Diagnose vehicle faults using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Carry out mechanical, electrical, and electronic repairs.
- Repair or replace defective parts and components.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and final quality checks.
- Test drive vehicles before and after repairs, when required.
- Ensure all repair work is completed within standard labour time.
- Update job cards with repair details and work performed.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors regarding repair status and additional work.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping at the workstation.
- Follow all workshop safety procedures and use PPE.
- Handle workshop tools and equipment responsibly and report any damage.
- Attend technical training programs to improve product knowledge and repair skills.
- Support senior technicians and team members in complex repair jobs.
- Ensure customer vehicles are handled carefully and without damage.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of automobile mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose vehicle faults accurately.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic scanners and workshop equipment.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer knowledge for updating job cards and service records.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced workshop environment.
- Teamwork and effective communication skills.
- Time management and commitment to quality work.
Educational Qualification
- ITI (Motor Mechanic Vehicle) / Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
- Certification from automobile manufacturers is an added advantage.
Experience
- Technician: 1–3 years of experience in an authorized automobile dealership or workshop.
- Senior Technician: 4–8 years of relevant experience with advanced diagnostic knowledge.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
