About Lilly
At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first.
About the role
Lilly is building the next generation of AI-powered commercial capabilities — spanning predictive AI, generative AI, and agentic systems — that will reshape how we engage healthcare professionals across international markets.
We are hiring an AI Products Architect to architect these solutions end-to-end. You will take ambiguous business problems, decide what is genuinely tractable with current AI, design the technical solution, and drive a cross-functional team to ship it into production. This is a hands-on, techno-functional individual contributor role — the spine that connects business intent to working AI systems. It is not a pre-sales role and not a pure delivery role.
What you will do
- Architect end-to-end AI solutions across a portfolio of strategic commercial AI initiatives
- Translate ambiguous business asks into sharp problem statements, two or three viable solution options with honest trade-offs, and a recommended path forward
- Make calibrated calls on what is tractable with current AI, what is hype, and when a non-AI approach is the right answer
- Design data flows, model approaches, agent orchestration patterns, human-in-the-loop interactions, evaluation strategies, and integrations with enterprise systems and cloud platforms
- Drive cross-functional pods spanning data science, engineering, MLOps, external vendors, and business stakeholders — without direct people management
- Set and hold quality bars: evaluation harnesses, guardrails, acceptance criteria, observability standards
- Partner with privacy, governance, and compliance teams to keep AI systems shippable in a regulated environment
- Influence the broader AI roadmap by surfacing patterns, anti-patterns, and platform needs across initiatives
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 2 years designing or building AI / ML solutions in production
- Demonstrated experience architecting AI systems end-to-end, not only contributing components
- Strong Python proficiency
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, with preference for AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker, S3, Lambda)
Preferred qualifications
- Production experience with LLMs and agentic AI frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, or equivalent) — not only proofs of concept
- Experience with RAG architectures, prompt and context engineering, and AI evaluation / observability tooling (LangSmith, Arize, or similar)
- Exposure to MLOps practices including drift detection, monitoring, and model lifecycle management
- Pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated-industry experience
- Familiarity with commercial pharma platforms and workflows, including CRM, multichannel orchestration, and next-best-action systems
- Strong written communication — able to produce a one-page solution brief that a senior leader can act on
- Track record influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority
•
What we offer
- The opportunity to shape Lilly's AI strategy for international markets, with measurable impact on patient access and HCP engagement
- A modern technical stack and the autonomy to make architectural decisions
- A culture that values both deep technical work and direct business impact
