We are looking for a practical and responsible Mechanical Design Engineer with good hands-on experience in SolidWorks, AUTOCAD, BOM preparation, Sheet Metal Design, Nesting and Manufacturing Drawings.
Job Description
We are hiring a Design Engineer with strong skills in CAD and SolidWorks and 1–2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design. The candidate will be responsible for drafting, preparing engineering drawings, and generating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for our conveyor and automation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD & SolidWorks.
- Prepare detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
- Prepare accurate Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Prepare sheet-metal drawings, flat patterns and DXF files.
- Prepare nesting layouts for laser cutting and material optimisation.
- Prepare machine, conveyor and plant layout drawings.
- Modify existing designs based on project requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchase and Site teams.
- Correct drawings based on production/site feedback.
- Maintain proper drawing revisions and project documentation.
- Coordinate with production, purchase, and project teams to deliver design requirements.
- Ensure all drawings are aligned with company and engineering standards.
- Support design improvement and R&D activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / BE Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 1–2 years experience in mechanical design/drafting.
- Good working knowledge of SolidWorks / Autocad.
- Experience in 3D Part Modelling and Assembly Design.
- Experience in Sheet Metal Design.
- Experience in BOM Preparation.
- Ability to prepare fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
- Knowledge of DXF preparation and sheet nesting.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD for layouts and GA drawings.
- Ability to understand and develop manufacturing-ready designs.
- Ability to take measurements, prepare layouts, and convert concepts into detailed drawings.
- Added advantage: Prior experience in conveyor design, material handling equipment, or machine design.
