The Role
As an Engineers (Protection & Control, Switchyard Physical Design) with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.
- Protection & Control Engineering / Design
- Prepare and review Protection & Control design deliverables for AIS/GIS substations and power systems up to 400/765 kV, including:
- Protection Single Line Diagrams
- AC/DC Schematics
- Control & Logic Diagrams
- Relay and Control Panel GA drawings
- Marshalling Kiosk drawings
- Interconnection Diagrams
- Cable Schedules, Terminal Plans
- BOMs and Bulk MTOs
- Perform secondary engineering for substations and switchyards, coordinating closely with primary (switchyard) design teams.
- Engineer Substation Automation Systems (SAS) based on IEC 61850, including station bus and process bus architectures.
- Interface with numerical protection relays, RTUs, HMIs, gateways, and control centers.
- Apply and integrate communication protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑104, Modbus, DNP3, etc.
- Provide procurement support, including preparation of inquiry requisitions, technical specifications, datasheets, technical bid evaluations, and vendor drawing reviews.
- Studies, Testing & Commissioning (Engineer / Senior / Lead levels)
- Perform or review power system studies, including:
- Short‑circuit analysis
- Load flow studies
- Protection coordination and relay setting calculations (unit and non‑unit protection)
- Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, outage planning, and review of factory / site acceptance test results.
- Hands‑on experience with numerical relays and protection coordination using ETAP / PSCAD or similar tools is preferred.
- Leadership & Coordination (Senior / Lead levels)
- Independently guide a team of engineers and designers.
- Support technical mentoring, training, and skill development.
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, vendors, owners’ engineers, and internal engineering disciplines.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a high‑pressure EPC project environment.

About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
- Designer: Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Engineer : B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Power Systems or (M.E. / M.Tech – Power Systems is desirable).
- 8–20 years of experience in Protection & Control / Secondary Engineering.
- Strong experience in:
- Power Transmission & Distribution
- EHV Substations and Switchyards
- Power Plants
- Good working knowledge of IEC / IEEE / ANSI / NEC standards.
- Experience with SAS, relay engineering, protection schemes, and power system studies.
Ability to work independently and, at senior levels, lead engineering teams.
