Job Summary
The SolidWorks Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing fitness equipment using SolidWorks while ensuring products are functional, manufacturable, cost-effective, and production-ready. The role involves preparing detailed manufacturing drawings, generating laser cutting files, calculating product costing, coordinating with production teams, and continuously improving existing designs to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
- Design new fitness equipment and improve existing products using SolidWorks.
- Develop complete 3D models, assemblies, and sheet metal designs.
- Ensure designs are structurally strong, aesthetically appealing, and manufacturable.
- Standardize components wherever possible to simplify production and inventory.
Engineering Drawings
- Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and welding details.
- Generate assembly drawings and exploded views for production and service teams.
- Maintain organized documentation and revision history for all designs.
Laser Cutting & Manufacturing Files
- Prepare DXF and other machine-compatible files for laser cutting.
- Optimize nesting and material utilization wherever applicable.
- Coordinate with laser cutting operators to ensure files are production-ready.
- Resolve manufacturing issues related to cutting, bending, welding, or assembly.
Costing & Product Optimization
- Prepare detailed costing for every machine, including:
- Raw material consumption
- Sheet metal and pipe requirements
- Hardware and bought-out components
- Manufacturing processes
- Estimated labour requirements
- Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising quality.
- Continuously improve designs for easier fabrication and assembly.
Production Planning & Coordination
- Work closely with the production, welding, machining, powder coating, procurement, and assembly teams.
- Assist in planning production schedules based on design readiness and manufacturing priorities.
- Support production during prototype development and first-article manufacturing.
- Resolve technical issues encountered during fabrication.
Documentation & Engineering Control
- Maintain a complete library of CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing files.
- Prepare and update Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Ensure all engineering documentation is properly version-controlled.
- Maintain design standards across the product range.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve product functionality, manufacturability, durability, and production efficiency.
- Reduce material wastage through optimized design.
- Recommend new manufacturing techniques, fixtures, and production improvements.
- Participate in product testing and implement design modifications based on feedback.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Parts, Assemblies, Sheet Metal, Weldments, and Drawings).
- Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication and structural steel design.
- Knowledge of laser cutting, tube cutting, CNC bending, welding, machining, and powder coating processes.
- Ability to prepare manufacturing drawings and DXF files.
- Strong understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Ability to calculate product costing and material consumption.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in SolidWorks design within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience designing fitness equipment, industrial machinery, or fabricated metal products is preferred.

Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
