Key Responsibilities
Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify developmental delays, sensory processing, fine/gross motor issues, or executive function difficulties.
Intervention Planning: Develop personalized, goal-oriented treatment plans using play-based techniques to encourage development.
Skill Development: Help children improve fine motor skills (handwriting, using cutlery), gross motor skills (balance, coordination), and daily living tasks (dressing, toileting).
Sensory/Behavioral Regulation: Implement therapeutic activities for sensory processing challenges, emotional regulation, and behavioral difficulties.
Collaboration: Work with families, teachers, and caregivers to provide home programs and strategies, ensuring a holistic approach to care.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of client progress, evaluations, and treatment outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
Licensure: State-specific licensure or licensure eligibility, often with a certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Experience: Previous experience working with children, often in schools, clinics, or hospitals.
Skills: Strong communication, patience, creativity in play-based intervention, and expertise in pediatric sensory or motor development.
