Are you passionate about cloud technologies and eager to develop innovative cloud-based solutions? NetApp's Azure NetApp Files (ANF) team is building industry-leading cloud storage services that power mission-critical enterprise workloads in Microsoft Azure. We are looking for a highly motivated principal engineer to help architect, develop and operate cloud-scale distributed systems that span storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, and user experience. This is a unified engineering role where engineers are expected to contribute across development, automated validation, performance, operational readiness, and service reliability. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges, takes ownership from design through production, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. While programming language experience, we expect engineers to incorporate AI-native engineering practices.
- 15+ years in Software/Systems Engineering.
- 5+ years in Storage & Data Management platforms (ONTAP or similar).
- 10+ years in Technical Leadership roles.
- Strong background in Distributed Systems, Cloud Storage, File Systems, Databases, or Infrastructure Services.
- Expertise in Go/Golang; Python for automation and CI/CD.
- Experience with REST APIs, Microservices, Kubernetes, Containers, and CI/CD.
- Knowledge of Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud-native platforms.
- Strong focus on Scalability, Reliability, Observability, Automation, and Security.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- 15+ years in Software/Systems Engineering.

- 5+ years of experience in Data Management, Storage Platforms, or Cloud Storage Systems (e.g., ONTAP or similar enterprise storage technologies).
- 10+ years of technical leadership experience, driving architecture, design, and delivery of complex software systems.
- Strong foundation in Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, Storage Technologies, Networking, Data Structures, and Software Engineering principles.
- Relevant certifications in Azure, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or Cloud Technologies are a plus.
- Equivalent combination of education and industry experience will also be considered.
