Symbiosis Artificial Intelligence Institute (SAII), a constituent institute of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), is dedicated to advancing excellence in Artificial Intelligence through world-class education, research, innovation, and industry engagement.
We invite applications from distinguished academicians and visionary leaders for the position of Director to lead the institute in establishing itself as a centre of excellence in AI education and research.
Position Overview
The Director will provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership to the institute while fostering innovation, interdisciplinary research, and strong industry collaborations. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in Artificial Intelligence with applications in Management, and demonstrate a proven track record in academic leadership, research, and institution building.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for the institute.
- Drive academic excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and student outcomes.
- Develop and implement the institute's strategic vision in alignment with the University's objectives.
- Promote interdisciplinary research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Business Analytics, and Digital Transformation.
- Strengthen collaborations with industry, government agencies, research organizations, and international universities.
- Lead faculty recruitment, mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
- Promote high-impact research, publications, sponsored projects, patents, consultancy, and innovation.
- Oversee accreditation, rankings, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop executive education, industry outreach, and collaborative initiatives.
- Represent the institute at national and international academic and industry forums.
Essential Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Management, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
- A distinguished academic record with substantial teaching, research, and administrative experience.
- Significant leadership experience as a Director, Dean, Associate Dean, Head of Department, Centre Director, or an equivalent academic leadership position.
- Strong publication record in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) indexed journals.
- Experience in securing sponsored research projects, consultancy assignments, and fostering industry collaborations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead institutional growth, academic innovation, and multidisciplinary teams.
