Key Roles and Responsibilities of a Shift Chemist1. Process Monitoring and Control
- Monitor plant/process parameters and chemical reactions.
- Ensure operations run within specified quality and safety limits.
- Identify process deviations and take corrective actions.
- Coordinate with operators to maintain smooth production.
2. Quality Control
- Collect and analyze samples of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Perform laboratory tests according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Verify that products meet quality specifications.
- Report and investigate out-of-specification results.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Follow and enforce safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
4. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain shift logs and laboratory records.
- Record process data, test results, and observations.
- Prepare shift reports and communicate important information during shift handovers.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality documentation requirements.
5. Equipment Monitoring
- Check the condition and calibration status of laboratory instruments.
- Monitor process equipment performance.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance teams.
- Ensure testing instruments are functioning accurately.
6. Production Support
- Assist production teams in troubleshooting process issues.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Support startup, shutdown, and changeover activities.
- Monitor chemical consumption and inventory when required.
7. Environmental Management
- Monitor effluent treatment and waste management processes.
- Ensure emissions and discharges remain within permitted limits.
- Conduct environmental testing and reporting as required.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of chemistry and industrial processes.
- Laboratory testing and analytical skills.
- Understanding of quality standards (ISO, GMP, GLP, etc.).
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and risk assessment.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
