Role: We need a senior engineering leader to shoulder day-to-day engineering execution, team management, and product delivery so the founding team can focus on scaling the business. The VP Tech will work closely with our technical co-founder to translate the established technology vision and architecture into shipped product. This is a high-autonomy delivery role you will manage the engineering infra, integrate AI capabilities, and ensure our dMRV platforms keep pace with Prithu's growth ambitions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, AI-first engineering leader who is as comfortable writing production code as managing engineers and communicating with founders.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end engineering delivery across Prithu's product suite dMRV platform, farmer app, and internal operations tooling.
- Translate product and technology direction (set collaboratively with the founding team) into detailed engineering plans and shipped features.
- Drive release management, sprint velocity, and cross-functional delivery coordination.
- Maintain engineering quality code reviews, testing standards, observability, and documentation. Hands-on Engineering Leadership
- Actively write and review production code across frontend, backend, APIs, and infrastructure.
- Build MVPs quickly and evolve them into scalable, maintainable systems.
- Identify and resolve technical bottlenecks before they slow the team down.
- Drive engineering quality, release management, and delivery execution AI Integration Automation
- Drive delivery of AI-first features in collaboration with the CTO: LLMs, agents, RAG pipelines, and workflow automation.
- Build and ship AI-powered features: farmer onboarding copilots, document intelligence for MRV audit support, anomaly detection in carbon data, and buyer-facing analytics.
- Help in implementation of RAG systems over Prithu's proprietary agronomic and satellite datasets for internal decision support.
- Research and recommend AI tooling model APIs, vector databases, orchestration frameworks for CTO review and adoption.
- Stay current with the AI ecosystem and bring emerging capabilities into production proactively
- 6 - 10+ years of engineering experience with significant time in startup or high-growth environments.
- Demonstrably hands-on coder you can point to production systems you personally built and scaled.
- AI-first mindset: you reach for LLMs and agents as natural tools, not experimental curiosities.
- Full-stack breadth: comfortable owning frontend, backend, infrastructure, and data decisions simultaneously.
- Collaborative by nature you thrive working closely with technical and non-technical founders.
- Climate, agritech, sustainability, or impact-sector experience is a genuine plus.
Must-Have Technical Skills
Full-Stack Engineering
- Frontend: React / Next.js / TypeScript : production-grade, responsive, performant applications.
- Backend: Node.js and/or Python : REST APIs, microservices, async/event-driven systems.
- Database: SQL / PostGIS, time-series DBs
- Cloud DevOps: AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability.
- Mobile: React Native or Flutter a strong plus given farmer-facing app requirements.
- AI Emerging Tech (hands-on experience required): LLM APIs (OpenAI / Anthropic / Gemini), RAG architectures and vector databases (Pinecone, pgvector, Weaviate); agent and multi-step workflow design (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent); prompt orchestration; AI product implementation end-to-end.
