Position Summary
The Exothermic Welder will be responsible for carrying out exothermic welding works for grounding and earthing systems in accordance with project specifications, international standards, and safety requirements. The role includes installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of earthing networks for commercial, industrial, infrastructure, airport, utility, and building automation projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesExothermic Welding Works
- Perform exothermic welding of copper conductors, copper-clad steel rods, grounding grids, and earthing networks.
- Execute weld connections as per approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
- Ensure proper mold selection, preparation, and execution of exothermic weld joints.
- Inspect weld quality and rectify defective joints when required.
- Maintain welding equipment, molds, accessories, and consumables.
Earthing & Lightning Protection Installation
- Install earthing conductors, grounding rods, earth pits, and bonding systems.
- Carry out lightning protection system grounding connections.
- Ensure proper conductor routing, termination, and bonding.
- Coordinate installation activities with electrical and civil teams.
Testing & Quality Control
- Conduct visual inspection of completed welds.
- Assist in earth resistance testing and continuity testing.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, BS, and project specifications.
- Maintain inspection records, quality reports, and testing documentation.
- Support client and consultant inspections.
Site Execution & Coordination
- Read and interpret electrical and grounding drawings.
- Coordinate with site engineers and supervisors for work planning.
- Ensure completion of work within project schedules.
- Report daily progress and site issues to project management.
Safety Compliance
- Follow all site HSE requirements and permit-to-work procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE during welding and installation activities.
- Ensure safe handling of exothermic welding materials and ignition equipment.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Report unsafe conditions and incidents immediately.
Material & Equipment Management
- Monitor consumption of welding shots, molds, and accessories.
- Maintain proper storage of exothermic welding materials.
- Coordinate with stores and procurement teams for material requirements.
- Ensure proper housekeeping at work locations.
Qualifications & ExperienceEducational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Welding Technology, or related trade.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in exothermic welding and earthing system installation.
- Experience in infrastructure, airport, utility, oil & gas, industrial, commercial, or data center projects preferred.
- Gulf/Middle East project experience will be an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with exothermic welding systems (Cadweld, Furse, ERICO, nVent, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Ability to read electrical and grounding drawings.
- Understanding of grounding standards and quality requirements.
- Familiarity with testing equipment and inspection procedures.

Additional Requirements for Maldives Project
- Valid Passport and willingness to travel internationally.
- Physically fit for outdoor and site-based work.
- Ability to work extended hours when required by project schedules.
- Compliance with Maldives labor, safety, and project regulations.
- Experience in airport, hospitality, resort, infrastructure, or utility projects preferred.
Preferred Certifications
- Exothermic Welding Training Certificate.
- Electrical Safety Certification.
- Working at Height Training (Preferred).
- First Aid and Basic Fire Safety Training (Preferred).
Fluid and Power Automations LLP (FPA) is seeking a skilled Exothermic Welder capable of delivering high-quality grounding and earthing installations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, workmanship, and project execution for its Maldives projects.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹38,444.35 per month
