Job Description
Position Overview
The Application Engineer – Motors is responsible for providing technical and commercial support for Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), and High Voltage (HV) electric motors. The role involves interpreting customer specifications, developing engineered motor solutions, supporting salesactivities, and coordinating with internal engineering teams to deliver competitive and compliant proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Engineering Support
- Review and interpret customer technical specifications, datasheets, drawings, andapplicable standards.
- Select and configure LV / MV / HV motor solutions based on application, duty,environmental conditions, and customer requirements.
- Perform key electrical and mechanical calculations, including motor sizing, thermal nalysis, starting methods (DOL, soft starter, VFD), efficiency and power factor evaluation, and torsional/shaft analysis as required.
- Prepare and review technical documentation such as motor datasheets, GA and outline drawings, and technical deviations or compliance statements.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, NEMA MG1, IEEE 841, and project-specific requirements.
- Apply practical knowledge of electric motors, including cooling methods, insulation systems, protection classes, and key mechanical aspects.
- Consider hazardous area requirements (ATEX / IECEx) where applicable.
Commercial & Proposal Support
- Handle technical inquiry evaluation and support quotation preparation.Customer & Sales Coordination
- Act as the primary technical contact for customers during the inquiry and quotation stage.
- Participate in technical meetings, clarification discussions, and presentations with
customers. (as required)
- Follow up on open technical queries and support Sales in closing opportunities.
- Provide post-quotation technical support until order finalization.
Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain organized electronic records of all inquiry, quotation, and order documentation.
- Ensure proper document control in accordance with company procedures.
- Support handover of technical information from sales to order execution teams.
