Wellwise Healthcare Solutions Private Limited is a pharmaceutical company built on the principle of "Quality. New Formulations. Affordability." We're growing our field organisation and looking for an experienced, disciplined leader to manage a territory and mentor a team of Medical Representatives (MRs).
About the Role
As Area Manager, you'll be the critical link between company leadership and the field. You'll manage a territory of 3 districts, lead a team of 3 Medical Representatives, and be directly accountable for target achievement, collections, and the professional development of your team. This is a senior field leadership role for someone who can operate independently and bring real management experience to the table.
What You'll Do
- Plan and guide your MR team: create route plans, doctor visit plans, and product promotion strategy for each MR based on their district and doctor mix
- Monitor field execution and verify that visit plans and reporting are being followed correctly
- Conduct ongoing territory analysis: competitive activity, prescribing trends, and market opportunity across your 3 districts
- Own your team's sales targets and collections, including managing the monthly billing and closing cycle (closing must be completed by the 5th of each month, without exception)
- Review and validate MR expense claims (fuel, field allowances) for accuracy
- Conduct regular joint field visits with each MR — intensive in your first 90 days, ongoing thereafter — to coach, develop, and stay grounded in ground realities
- Build and maintain direct relationships with key doctors and stockists in your territory
- Maintain clear communication protocols between your MR team and company leadership
- Report regularly to senior management on territory performance
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience managing a field sales team, ideally in pharmaceuticals or a related industry
- Strong ownership mentality — comfortable identifying and solving problems independently rather than waiting to be told
- Willingness to travel extensively within your territory, including an intensive first 90 days (6 days field / 1 day HQ per week)
- Strong follow-through on deadlines, particularly around monthly collections and closing
- Honest, disciplined, and fair in managing people and reporting performance
- Comfortable using a mobile/field app for planning and reporting
Compensation
- Base salary begins after successful completion of a 30-day serving (probation) period
- Sales incentive on team performance
- Conversion bonus on doctor conversions achieved across the territory
