Job Title: Operation Theatre (OT) Surgical Nurse – Gastrointestinal & Laparoscopic Surgery
Location: Gateway Hospital, Coimbatore.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly motivated Operation Theatre Surgical Nurse to join our surgical team. The candidate will play a vital role in assisting advanced gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgical procedures while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and operating theatre management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeons during all types of gastrointestinal, laparoscopic, colorectal, hernia, bariatric, and general surgical procedures.
- Prepare and maintain the operation theatre before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Ensure the availability, functionality, and sterility of all surgical instruments, laparoscopic equipment, and OT devices.
- Follow and enforce standard OT protocols, infection control measures, and patient safety guidelines.
- Coordinate effectively with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Supervise, guide, and manage OT support staff to ensure smooth workflow and discipline within the operation theatre.
- Handle emergency situations efficiently and adapt quickly to changing surgical requirements.
- Maintain accurate records related to surgical procedures, instruments, and consumables.
- Provide professional, compassionate, and reassuring care to patients and their attendants.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- ANM / GNM/ Diploma / B.Sc. Nursing with relevant OT experience.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, laparoscopic equipment, sterilization procedures, and OT protocols.
- Experience in gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgeries will be highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- Ability to take responsibility and maintain discipline among OT staff.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to perform efficiently under pressure.
