Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and technically inclined Production Trainee – Composites to support day-to-day manufacturing activities related to composite components. The candidate will learn and assist in composite material preparation, lay-up, molding, curing, trimming, finishing, inspection, and assembly while following defined production and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the manufacturing and assembly of composite components as per drawings, work instructions, and production schedules.
- Support composite material preparation, including handling of carbon fiber, glass fiber, resin, hardener, and other consumables.
- Assist in cutting and kitting of composite materials according to ply patterns and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform composite lay-up operations under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers.
- Assist in mold preparation, cleaning, release-agent application, and component preparation.
- Support vacuum bagging and vacuum leak testing activities.
- Assist with curing processes using appropriate curing methods and follow defined temperature/time parameters.
- Perform trimming, drilling, sanding, deburring, and finishing of composite components as per specifications.
- Assist in bonding and assembly operations for composite parts.
- Perform basic dimensional and visual inspection of components and identify defects or abnormalities.
- Maintain proper identification and traceability of materials, components, and production records.
Technical Responsibilities
- Understanding of basic composite materials and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Carbon Fiber, Glass Fiber, Aramid Fiber, Epoxy Resin, and related materials.
- Basic understanding of composite lay-up and ply orientation.
- Understanding of vacuum bagging and vacuum infusion processes is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of molding, curing, trimming, drilling, sanding, and bonding.
- Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Understanding of basic dimensional measurements and tolerances.
- Identify common composite defects such as:
- Voids
- Delamination
- Wrinkles
- Resin-rich/resin-starved areas
- Fiber misalignment
- Air entrapment
- Surface defects
- Follow defined temperature, pressure, vacuum, curing time, and process parameters.
