About Position
As a Senior Database Administrator , you will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining, and scaling our most critical data storage and intelligence platforms. You will build, maintain, and scale production services and server farms across multiple global data centers and public cloud providers. You will contribute to the product architecture to improve our services' performance, operability, scalability, service reliability, capacity, and observability. What You'll Do:

Design, administer, and maintain NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and MongoDB to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.

Manage and support SQL databases including MySQL, MariaDB, and Percona environments.

Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability, proactively identifying and resolving issues.

Administer and maintain Kafka messaging infrastructure to support reliable data streaming and integration.

Automate database and system administration tasks using scripting languages and automation frameworks.

Implement and manage configuration management solutions such as Puppet, Ansible, or Chef.

Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution of database-related incidents.

Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure operational excellence.

Execute database upgrades, patches, backups, recovery procedures, and performance tuning activities.

Follow and contribute to operational best practices, including change management, incident management, and capacity planning.

Support database platforms across public cloud and traditional datacenter environments.

Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure reliable and scalable database services.

Promote and implement database best practices, standards, and governance across the organization.

Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-sharing materials.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship on database technologies and data platform operations.
Expertise You'll Bring:
-
7+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB) required.
-
6+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona) required.
-
Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures strongly preferred.

Experience automating management of systems & database using common scripting languages
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of leveraging them to evangelize technical best practices with databases/data intelligence platforms.

Experience with monitoring and alerting systems.
-
Experience with industry-standard operational practices such as change management, incident management, and working in both public clouds and traditional colocation datacenters.

Experience using Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or analogous configuration management systems.

BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience required.

Experience with Puppet for infrastructure automation.

Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services.

Knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Experience working in highly available, distributed environments.

Exposure to MongoDB and other NoSQL technologies.

Strong scripting and automation capabilities.
