We are looking for a Product Analytics / Session Replay Intern who is curious about user behavior and enjoys figuring out what visitors actually do on our website. The ideal candidate should have a strong eye for detail, be comfortable analyzing user sessions, website analytics, and be able to turn observations into clear insights.
Selfhost.dev is a managed backend infrastructure platform, where developers and teams can run their entire backend, their databases, and applications from one dashboard without managing servers themselves. In simple terms, we give developers fully managed database services, and also provide them the simplicity to deploy & host their apps, cache services and more with a transparent pay-as-you-go pricing.
You will spend most of your time studying user sessions on our marketing website. You will look at what people explore, what catches their attention, where they hesitate, what they click, where they drop off, and how they move through the website, and based on all this analyse each user’s behaviour. Based on these observations turn them into daily updates that helps us better understand our visitors and improve the website.
What you'll do
- Review user session recordings and website activity on a daily basis.
- Analyze how users navigate and interact through the Selfhost.dev website.
- Identify patterns in how users discover, explore, traverse and interact with website pages.
- Observe which sections, CTAs, and features attract the most attention.
- Identify friction points, confusing interactions, unexpected behaviours and drop-offs
- Track where visitors enter and exit the website.
- Analyse clicks, scroll behaviour, navigation patterns, and other available website data.
- Maintain proper documentation and share daily updates in it of interesting observations and supporting data.
- Track how visitors interact with new pages, or any website changes.
- Work closely with the product, design and marketing to share your findings.
You'll be a fit if
- You're naturally curious about why people behave the way they do.
- You have a strong eye for detail and notice things others might overlook.
- You enjoy exploring websites and understanding user journeys.
- You like finding patterns and connecting observations to data.
- You can clearly explain what you observed and why it might matter.
- You're comfortable working independently and providing consistent daily updates.
- You have a basic understanding of websites, UX, or product analytics.
- You're comfortable working with spreadsheets and organizing information.
- You are willing to learn analytics and session replay tools.
- Good written communication and attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Experience with tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Mixpanel, or similar.
- Basic understanding of funnels, conversion rates, bounce/drop-off rates, and user journeys.
- Familiarity with UX research or usability testing.
- Understanding of website UX and conversion optimization.
- Experience analyzing websites, SaaS products, or digital products.
- Basic knowledge of spreadsheets or data visualization.
- Experience with a personal, academic, freelance, or open-source project where you analyzed user behavior.
What you'll actually be doing
You will review website visitors’ sessions and analytics. Your updates will answer questions like:
- How many visitors came to the website today?
- Where did they all come from?
- What did they do today?
- What unusual or interesting behaviour did we notice?
- Where are they getting stuck?
- Which pages are getting the most attention?
- From where are the users converting the most? And from where are they getting confused?
You'll then turn those observations into a simple daily update containing what you found, the supporting data, why it matters, and what we could potentially improve.
